One Veneer or Twelve: How Many to Make Your Smile Shine?

How many veneers are you going to need? Many patients assume that every tooth that’s visible when you grin will need to be covered, but this isn’t necessarily the case. The right number of porcelain veneers in Lutz is going to be different for every person depending on the flaws they want to address. Read on to learn more about the factors you’ll have to consider while designing your dream smile.

Are You a Candidate for Porcelain Veneers?

Obviously, before you can worry about how many veneers to get, you need to figure out whether they’re a good fit for you at all! First, there’s the matter of the corrections you want to make. Veneers can cover cracks, chips, stains, small gaps, and certain alignment issues. They’re a good option if you want to repair multiple flaws at once, or if there’s an issue that other cosmetic treatments wouldn’t be able to correct (for example, a stain that doesn’t respond to whitening). Also, it’s important for your teeth to be healthy before getting veneers; any cavities you have will need to be filled first.

How Does the Dentist Choose the Right Number of Veneers?

Once you’ve decided to get veneers, it’s up to your cosmetic dentist in Lutz to figure out how many you’ll actually need. The goal is to use the most conservative number of restorations possible while allowing you to achieve your goals for your smile. If all you need is to cover one tooth in particular that has been damaged, a single veneer should be enough to do the job. On the other hand, if you want to improve the overall color of your teeth, you’ll likely need to get multiple veneers so that all your teeth match.

Remember that only teeth that are visible when you smile will potentially need veneers. Everyone’s grin is different, so for some this could mean getting eight veneers while for others it might be 10 or 12. In some cases, cosmetic bonding might be used to make minor changes to the lower teeth instead of placing veneers.

What’s the Procedure for Getting Veneers?

After selecting the proper number of veneers, your dentist will make the necessary preparations to your teeth, then take an impression of your mouth. You’ll receive some temporary veneers to help you get used to their appearance; in the meantime, a dental lab will be designing and creating your veneers. After a couple of weeks, you can go back to the dentist to have the veneers attached.

If you have any questions during the process – whether it’s regarding the number of veneers or a different concern – let your dentist know as soon as possible. It’s important for you to be comfortable and confident with your newly enhanced grin!
